Praying at 4 a.m.

I think I have a cold and can't sleep all stuffy, so I got up and prepared some invitations for my graduation next Saturday. As I was scribbling names on a piece of paper, God sent me the perfect prayer. Short, sweet, simple, and very direct.

A MOTHER'S PERFECT PRAYER

Lord, forgive my son.

Lord, save my son.

God, have mercy on my son.

God, help my son.

God, protect my son.

Holy Spirit, guide my son.

AMEN.

  • I still haven't heard back from Ryan's appeal- but as luck would have it, the attorney representing him, who, by the way, was amazing, was convicted of tax evasion and is going to prison for two and a half years. he will probably get disbarred. :( As upset as I am about the entire situation, I can't help but think who God will send us next! I feel slightly optimistic about the appeal, however. To begin with, you know how Murphy's Law operates. So long as I had I a badass attorney on board, nothing was going to happen. Now that he's out of the picture and no one around... well... additionally, I know that 80% of the arguments I made were basically "Hail Mary" arguments- a long shot in the dark at best, but still... but one argument in particular... well... there was a slight glitch with the jury and I truly believe I had divine inspiration and guidance on that argument. That may hold a bit of water. I still can't believe I came up with that argument all on my own. It's a technicality, but still- the law is the law and the judges took an oath to uphold it. Due process is due process and everybody is entitled to it. So now we just hurry up and wait. It doesn't matter. I am already preparing for post-conviction.
  • Thank you...  you bet! The appeal was submitted back in Feb, but when I asked about a timeline at the Clerks's office, I was told that they don't have one because there are always other cases jumping ahead because they require "stays." It was with a dread and a sinking heart I realized he meant stays of execution. God, help me achieve my goals. If I really am meant to be a lawyer, PLEASE open doors, give me connections, the patience, the smarts and SHOW ME THE MONEY! Amen.

  • Deb, I am so happy that this prayer helped you. I sent it to my son today and advised him he should pray it also, twice a day. once in the morning, when he wakes up, and once at night, before going to sleep. I also told him he could add, "... forgive me for _____." and "... help me with _____." Right now, I've submitted an appeal to the Louisiana Supreme Court on his behalf, and made some compelling arguments. So hopefully, he will add, "help me with my LASC appeal." in his prayer, or anything else he may have done to offend God.

God bless, Deb. Much love to you and your son.

  • Beautiful. I have been praying for God to tell me what to prayer. Thanks for answered prayers!
