Motherly Touches

Mothers Day is coming. Is it silly of me to add a cheerful sticker on a piece of mail, knowing the prisoner probably won't get it? (Or the goddamn mail at all!! Somehow there are 4 of 6 missing letters - 2 have $ in them-& yea, I'm sh/$$y @ it! ~~ nobody seems to know anything.)What kinds of things do you do for self-comfort when letter writing or other kinds of self-gifts?

  • Yup-tried all that. God at one point I think I had 3 different ppl looking for me.
But I'm going to try calling again and ask more specific questions.... Can't hurt. :)). Ty
  • I know how frustrating this is for you. First call the facility and get educated on what their policies are regarding mail, phone calls and canteen money. I do know you will pay more for calling cards purchased vs setting up an account with a phone service they use. Take a deep breath. Then when you can, check to see if the money orders have been cashed. Maybe your son got the money after the facility processed it onto an account for him.
  • Judy - I've sent crossword puzzles that I printed out from online. Super easy so that there's no solution needed (if they let him).
I also have printed out sketches of eyes, noses, ears, mouths, etc, so he could have a template to copy when practicing his drawing (if they let him).
See? Everythings a matter of "If they let him." And cuz he has no $$$ he can't call me to tell me what they let him do and what they don't. When he DOES call it's a 5 minute freebie and wtf can you talk about in 5 GD minutes?

  • It's money orders. :(.
I don't care, next time I'm sending it certified. This is bs. I've had those 4 letters out there floating around for over 3 weeks now& th post office hasn't sent them back to me even tho I have return addy on it...
  • Sending cash is probably a direct violation. Call the mail room and ask for the guidelines you have to follow. They may red flag his mail because of the cash being sent in. Do yourself a favor and stay away from green dot cards...gang member's way of extortion (of good inmates and) inside.
  • I'm allowed to print colorful greetings like this.  I center it on the piece of paper and then write around it.  I'm thankful she's allowed prints like this :)3322159174?profile=original
