Mental Health Meds in prison

Ok now that I aired my frustration about the tattoos I want to comment on the meds my son is on. He doesn't even act like my son anymore. He is zombie like. Total change in personality. They have him on: Thorazine, Lamictal,Prozac and Ativan. Diagnosed as: Schizo effective disorder, and bipolar. Has any one else had their son on any of these meds? And if so can you tell me how they did. Thanks

  • Thanks for all your input.

  • My son was diagnosed in prison with bipolar and schizophrenia at first they had him on Thorazine and haldol and cogentin when I saw him he'll was so sedated he couldn't hardly talk and falling off his chair. You have to become his advocate and make sure the meds he is given will help I called
The medical team frequently they won't want to give you information get your son to sign a medical release of information and a get a medical power of attorney if you can. I haven't been able to get that the prison has not been cooperative. I've spoke to chaplain and sometimes the psychologist." He is now on a haldol injection once a month and cogentin for the side effects. Let the medical team know about his change in behavior and call constantly until they pay attention to you.
