Hi, everyone. My son has a rash that is spreading. Months after it started, they changed his laundry detergent and soap. It didn't work. Now, another month later, it has spread over his entire body except his face and head. He says it's bumps that he can pop clear puss out of. And they burn. Sounds nothing like hives and he's the only one with it. Anyway, what can I do to have him seen by a doctor? Is there anything I can do? The nurse just isn't proactive and does not seem to care. He is in county jail. Although he is there for a felony, the prison is full. Has anyone else had this happen? What can I do????
Thank you all for your help and support. I was able to get ahold of the Ombudsman on a Thursday and he was seen by the doctor that Tuesday, so they were great. I didn't even know about the Ombudsman, so I cannot thank you enough. He ended up having scabies, but is being treated and doing much better! I really appreciate it everyone!
Also you might contact legal aid and see if they can advise you on his rights and what the law demands concerning the laws of inmates right to medical attention.
There is a law it is section 1983 it is for all inmates how they can and cannot be treated. It help me with my son when Guards were harrassing him in the county jail and I told him to tell them my mom found this little little thing called section 1983 and that was the end of the harrasment. Hope this helps.
Yes. I wiil do anything! My son told me this morning that they said that if there is no change in after 4 days of antibiotics, they are taking him to doc. If they don't, I will def call medical. Thank you
I'm scared to call. We had an incident a couple of months ago where one of the guards asaulted him. My son called me crying. I called the police dept and they went down to the jail. The officer said it "looked" like he was going to hit them. He is a non-Violent offender. Even if he was, I don't see how kicking or hitting someone because they "look" like they are gonna hit you, could possibly be part of officer training. Anyway, after the dept investigated and Monday rolled around, the officer that was supposed to take my sons statement, came in and dragged him. Put him in some kind of jacket and padded room. He has been in the medical pod ever since. So, as you can see, I am very afraid to complain. However, I will see if there is a chaplain to call and call the ombudsman today. Thank you ladies!
My son said skin issues can be a real problem MRSA, ring worm, fungus, staph and more. He goes to medical for this faster than anything. I hope the nurse gets him help. Sending prayers
