FEELING PRESSURE,NOT A GOOD FEELING

I feel bad because I could not afford a private attorney for my son.The codefendent hired a high power lawyer. My son was told by his PD that because he pleaded guilty that he will most likely have to do do jail time that his hands are tied.Never gave us any hope.My son is only 20 years old and facing 5-10 years in prison for 2 nd degree robbery.. The codefendent lawyer got the procecuter to give him 3 Rd degree theft, no indictment, time served. My son said that his lawyer is not even trying to get him out.I know that PD are very busy but this is my sins life He keeps telling me to push the lawyer. My son is a first offender and codefendent is not. They have the same exact charges. Why would my sons lawyer act as if thier is no other option then jail because it's a violent crime and his codefendent is getting out??

  • I spoke to my sons PD today. He Finally answered some questions. The way he talks down to me is so unprofessional. It takes everything I have not to go off on him.

  • Gaylynn,I can't imagine the pain you had to bear all these years. Thank you, for sharing.
  • When my son was charged with 3 cts of 2nd degree murder two boys chasing each other and three people died in their choices his co-defendant family got him a good attorney we had PD. They put their house up for collateral and both boys were charged the same. Our pd was awful he joked about picking the jury and my son was told to get rid of him which courts would not do, make a long story short all the money co-defendants family put out they lost the case and both our boys got the same sentence 15- to life. Now he's close to coming home as it's been 20 yrs now we have gotten a good lifer atty and put it on our credit card:-) God bless you and your family
  • Ok Thank you Lisa this process is do frustrating.
  • It seems to be the luck of the draw, in our experience. We too could not afford a private attorney. The first time our experience was great with the PD. This last time was horrible. I was treated like a second class citizen, and the PD did nothing for my son. I suggest your son file an appeal. Good Luck.
  • Yes it does.Good luck with your sons appeal.
