Cody having troubles with his unit manager

Ladies, My son is having so much trouble with his unit manager. Cody ordered a pair of shoes and a month later he got a letter saying they were out of the shoes he wanted. He tried to order a different pair, but was told, he has to request a refund first through his unit manager. Cody has asked him several times if he would sign the form to get a refund. He told Cody "it is not my job" Cody still has the same shoes they gave him when he got there..after a year later, they are pretty worn. Cody said he is not the only one having troubles with this guy. He simply will NOT do anything and keeps saying "Its not my Job" so much to list that that Cody has requested...simple things and he refuses!! anyone else have that problem? I am so fed up. I have tried to call his unit manager and only got his answering machine, I left a nice message to see how we can get his refund. He has not called me back. Grrrrrrrrrr...

  • I am so GLAD Ross has a better case worker now! No luck yet. I talked to Cody's Unit manager's supervisor yesterday morning, she said her computer was down, but will look into to everything asap and get back to me. I have not heard anything yet.

  • I hate this stuff. The unit manager can make their life miserable. Some are such jerks.
  • This is a bunch of BULL! No one wants to do their job!!!! Maybe call the the manager back and tell him that you were told the property manager said it was his job and that you don't want to cause any friction but you just don't have the $$$ to buy another pair of shoes.

I might be up in Birnamwood the 4th weekend....left me know if you are going to be around. I might be there from 4-6th. If not, I will be back a few more times over the summer.

  • I just called the facility and spoke to Cody's manager. He said it is property claims job to get his money back. I have tried calling that dept, but no answer and left a message. Cody told me he already talked to property claims and they said it IS the manager's job to take care of it. " sigh" I have made other calls, but no one is answering today. left messages. I hope to hear SOMETHING by tomorrow. I just cant afford to put another 82.00 in his account for shoes when he has the money somewhere out there. frusterated!
  • I forgot to add..Yes Connie, he ordered through his commissary account. Kristina, I am sorry Ross had this same problem. does he still have the same unit manager?

  • Thank you for your advice Kristina and Connie. I am off today from work and plan to make some calls all day if I have too. Yes, Cody wants to file a grievance, but he thinks that will do nothing too. I told him to at least try. He is afraid to stir any problems. Connie, Cody also told me that his unit manager told him he has to "pay" for his Commisary list? It just makes no sense. But I will find out today if I am able to order some things myself for him. Thank you for the advice on that. I am afraid to send any more money and have this happen again when he orders shoes. Things are expensive enough as it is. makes me sooooo angry.

  • First of al,l I am so sorry Cody has to go through this. Was his order placed through his commissary account?

What I do when my son needs something like shoes, clothing, radio, etc, he gives me the names of their catalogs and what he needs then I order through the catalog and have it sent to where he is at. This way I can monitor and track the package. Is this something you can do?  I don't think the facility cares who does the ordering. In fact I had the companies send me their catalogs and my son just sends me his list.

Hope you will get this issue resolved.

  • Thank you Mary, I will try calling for the unit manager's supervisor. Never thought of that. Thank you!
