  • Is your son not adjusting well to being incarcerated or to being in the psych ward? He may be in denial of his situation. Is he talking to the counselor? I would definitely advise him to put in for a pastoral care visit!  My son spent nine months in the medical ward due to his mental anguish, so I feel your pain. Sending prayers your way.

  • My son is also mentally ill. Having him sign the paperwork is very important. Charlotte has some great suggestions. You can also call your county mental health agency. Sometimes it takes awhile for the right meds to be found. Hang in there. Prayers.
  • Thank you. My son is the one who is telling me. I visit him as often as we are allowed, but there are times he refuses the visit. But I will try out your suggestions :-)

  • Get your pastor/minister/prison volunteer who is in the area of the jail to go check on him, asap. Is your son telling you he is not adjusting or is a jail officer telling you? If you are close enough, visit him as often as you can. Call the jail and speak with a case manager or medical and see what you find out. Are they medicating him? Get you your son to sign a medical power of attorney, so they can talk to you about his care. :-/
