Good Morning,
I am a mother of a 20 year old girl. She was sentenced to 80 years in May of 2015. I visit monthly and receive calls weekly. will this get easier? The feelings are just as raw for me as the day of her arrest.

  • Hey, LeAnn.

Other Moms already told you about A book "Purpose Driven Life". Have you had a chance to read it?

I read it over and over. My son also has read it.

I hope you are walking with God now. Because I know I cannot go through this on my own.

Just know that I am praying for you.

  • LeAnn, I will echo what the others are saying because I know it is true. God is forgiving and would never want you to feel that you are alone or in pain. I pray that you turn to Him and stay close because He so desires this from you. He wants to cradle you and comfort you, and He will. I have found a lot of comfort in reading Rick Warren's book 'A Purpose Driven Life.' Please do not give up on Him because He sincerely wants to help. I will be praying for you like I do for my family. Remain strong. You have plenty of friends here who care for you and understand. I am praying for your daughter as well. Both of you are so loved by God.
  • God forgives everybody its Us That has the hard time forgiving. Forgiving is letting yourself be at peace to move forward. Didn't mean you forget you just have to let it go that something terrible happened. You didn't ask for it nor did you tell someone to do it. Not everybody I find knows forgiveness that's were you have to let everybody else do there thing but you my friend can forgive and walk with your head up. Church not all are created equal I've been to 2 so far and am working on the 3rd you will know I guess when it feels right to be were your wanted and accepted. Be strong stay strong and one foot in front of the other it will never be easy but you will find some peace from time to time Tammy
  • Good Morning all,

thanks all for the comments below. i do see a common word in all the advice." GOD". oh ladies, I have lost my faith since this has happened. I have tried to go back to the church but the emotions overtake me. Thou shall not Kill. Can GOD forgive ?

  • Praying for God to comfort and ease your pain; He will not fail you or your beloved daughter. Remain in Him and He will remain in you. He will provide strength to get through the this. My prayers are with you and your daughter.
  • I have a book I found through a friend called my new normal by Carol Kent it might be called a new kind of normal it's been a while since I read it but it bring a lot of comfort to my heart she's written several books now her son is serving a life sentence without parole quite touching and gave words to my heart
  • My prayers go out for you and your daughter. I pray God will give you ample strength to endure. We have a tab on the navigation bar for 'Parents with Daughters," if you would like to reach out to other parents with incarcerated daughters.

    God Bless

    Hugs,

  • When I read this, I was just sitting and staring at your words. I didn't know what to say to you, my heart was feeling for you. I looked to my right and this is what I saw on my desk. God is our Refuge and Strength, A Helper who is always found in Times of Trouble - Psalm 46:1

Please stay strong Mom, your daughter need you now. If you ever need a friend just know that  we are here for you...Many Hugs and Kisses to you.
